Description

This 1 bolívar banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Venezuela on October 5, 1989, as part of the Bolívar series that circulated before the 2007 redenomination.

The obverse features a dark blue design with variations in blue-violet tones. On the right side, there is an image of a 1 bolívar coin. The center displays the payment clause "PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR EN LAS OFICINAS DEL BANCO" ("Payable to the bearer at the bank's offices"). To the left, the denomination "1" is shown, with a serial number below. The top left corner bears the issuer's name, "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA," while the bottom features the denomination in words, "UN BOLÍVAR."

The reverse presents the denomination "Un Bolívar" in the center. To the left, the coat of arms of Venezuela is depicted, and to the right, a guilloche pattern. Each corner displays the numeral "1."

Measuring 115 × 55 mm, this banknote was printed by the Bundesdruckerei (Federal Printing Office) in Berlin, Germany. It was colloquially known as "Tinoquito," in honor of the then-president of the Central Bank of Venezuela. Another popular nickname was "Monopolio," due to its size and paper quality resembling those of the "Monopoly" board game.

📌 Note: The serial number on the banknote may vary.
